Was dialogue with Kanu ever a realistic path to peace?

Omoyele Sowore says attempts were made to persuade Nnamdi Kanu to abandon the Biafran agitation and enter mainstream politics in exchange for freedom but he refused. Does this reveal a failure of dialogue, or proof that the divide is deeper than politics?
