Should Nnamdi kanu be released?

Nnamdi Kanu has been charged with quite some offences and amongst them are treason which is punishable by death under our laws and treasonable felony which is punishable with life imprisonment. So how then are people protesting for his release, does he really deserves to be released despite this crimes?
