Should a PhD replace medical fellowship for specialist doctors in Nigeria?

The Federal Executive Council only approved that the Nigerian Postgraduate Medical College can award PhDs for medical research, with accreditation from the National Universities Commission, while fellowship remains the key clinical qualification.
