Umo Bassey Eno is the current Governor of Akwa Ibom State. As of June 6, 2025, he became a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after he announced his defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) on that date. A seasoned entrepreneur and pastor, he previously served as commissioner for Lands and later Economic Development under Governor Udom Emmanuel. He became the PDP’s consensus candidate for the 2023 elections and assumed office in May 2023. Known for his calm leadership style, he has focused on rural development, enterprise promotion, and social welfare.
