Bio Summary
Umaru Usman Dukku served as the inaugural Senator for Gombe North from 1999 to 2003 following Nigeria’s return to democracy. Elected on the ANPP platform, he played active roles across multiple Senate committees—especially on Selection, Ethics, Foreign Affairs, Police Affairs, State & Local Government, and chaired the National Population Committee. Post-Senate, he contributed significantly to higher education governance as Chairman of the Kaduna Polytechnic Governing Council. His early legislative leadership helped shape the role of Gombe’s representation in the Senate.
