A trained lawyer from Ahmadu Bello University, he served as a Commissioner in Sokoto State before being elected Senator in 2003. Over multiple terms, he worked on major committees including Judiciary, INEC, Aviation, and Health, and rose to chair the Northern Senators Forum.
