Senator Roland Stephen Owie is a veteran legislator and engineer who served as the pioneer Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate (1999–2000) for Edo South. With a career spanning the Second and Fourth Republics, Owie is recognized for founding the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) through his legislative sponsorship. A principled traditionalist and Papal Knight, he recently joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), continuing his role as a prominent elder statesman and vocal advocate for internal party democracy and regional development.
