Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is a Nigerian civil engineer and prominent political leader who has served as Governor of Kano State (1999–2003, 2011–2015), Minister of Defence (2003–2007), and Senator for Kano Central (2015–2019). Currently a key figure in the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), he was previously the National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). A charismatic populist and founder of the Kwankwassiya movement, he remains one of the most influential political figures in northern Nigeria and a primary driver of opposition realignment.
