Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is a Nigerian civil engineer and political leader who has twice served as Governor of Kano State (1999–2003, 2011–2015), and as Minister of Defence (2003–2007) under President Obasanjo. He later became Senator for Kano Central (2015–2019) before emerging as National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). A charismatic populist, he led his party’s presidential run in 2023 and remains a major figure in northern Nigerian politics.
