Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, CON, is Nigeria’s Coordinating Minister of Health & Social Welfare, appointed in August 2023. A physician-turned-global health leader, he previously led primary healthcare reform in Nigeria and held senior roles at the World Bank and Harvard University. Since his return, he’s spearheaded the Health Sector Renewal Initiative, NHSIA strengthening, maternal-child health, malaria vaccine rollout, and the “Know Your Numbers” campaign. TIME100 Health 2025 named him among the world’s most influential health leaders.
