Before his ministerial appointment, he served as the Director General and Global Liaison for the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP). He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (FCIT).
