Rev. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia is the Governor of Benue State since 29 May 2023, representing the APC. A Tiv from Vandeikya LGA, he is a former Catholic priest with advanced studies in theology, counseling, and biomedical ethics. Suspended from priestly duties to contest the election, his administration aims to boost food production, education policy, and security. Alia is the second Catholic priest in Nigeria to assume a gubernatorial seat, noted for integrity and service orientation.
