Henry Seriake Dickson is the Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate. He was first elected in a December 2020 by-election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and later re-elected in the 2023 general elections. He recently defected from the PDP to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), marking a significant political shift in Bayelsa State and the Niger Delta region. A lawyer and former police officer, Dickson previously served two terms as Governor of Bayelsa State (2012–2020) and earlier represented Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. He is widely known for his focus on education, infrastructure, justice reforms, and Niger Delta development.
