Gyang Dalyop Datong was a physician-turned-legislator who represented Barkin‑Ladi/Riyom in the House of Representatives (2003–2007) and then served as Senator for Plateau North under the PDP (2007–2012). A passionate advocate for health and infrastructure development, he championed bills on road safety, health policy, and accountability in government. He tragically lost his life in 2012 while attending a funeral in Riyom.
