Atiku Abubakar is a Nigerian politician, businessman, and former Vice President who served from 1999 to 2007 under President Olusegun Obasanjo. A founding member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku is known for his advocacy of economic liberalization and federalism. He had a distinguished career in the Nigeria Customs Service before entering politics, and he is also the founder of the American University of Nigeria in Yola.
