Bio Summary

Douye Diri is the Governor of Bayelsa State. He was first sworn in via a Supreme Court ruling on 14 February 2020 after the annulment of the 2019 election results. A PDP leader from Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA, he previously served as Senator for Bayelsa Central and held multiple public service roles before his governorship. An educator and Ijaw activist, Diri’s administration was marked by infrastructure development, payment of gratuity arrears, and completion of the Bayelsa Airport and Nembe Unity Bridge.
