Bashir (Basiru) Usman Gorau

Bashir Usman Gorau is a Nigerian politician and Member of the House of Representatives representing Goronyo/Gada Federal Constituency in Sokoto State. First elected in 2023 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following a supplementary poll, he has since defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking a significant shift in his political alignment. A younger politician with roots in student unionism, Gorau is widely seen as part of a new generation of leaders emerging in northern Nigerian politics. He currently serves in the 10th National Assembly, where he participates in legislative and constituency development activities.
