Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi is a Nigerian politician, accountant, and statesman who served as Governor of Kaduna State from 1999 to 2007 and later as Senator for Kaduna North from 2007 to 2015. A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he is widely respected for his calm, consensus-building leadership. He also chaired the PDP National Caretaker Committee during a turbulent period in the party’s history. Known for his technocratic background in accounting and finance, Makarfi is regarded as one of the prominent Northern politicians of the Fourth Republic.
