Chief of Staff to President @bola-ahmed-tinubu, @femi-hakeem-gbajabiamila has disclosed that he nearly lost his position over allegations linking actor-turned-lawmaker @desmond-oluwashola-elliot to the political turmoil surrounding the impeachment and eventual reinstatement of Speaker Mudashiru Obasa. Speaking in a now-viral video, @femi-hakeem-gbajabiamila said President @bola-ahmed-tinubu summoned him to Abuja during the height of the crisis and confronted him over intelligence reports claiming @desmond-oluwashola-elliot was among those allegedly fueling instability in the Assembly. ā€œI almost lost my job as Chief of Staff last year because of @desmond-oluwashola-elliot, ā€ @femi-hakeem-gbajabiamila revealed. According to him, @bola-ahmed-tinubu said: ā€œI hear this Desmond is your boy. He is one of the people causing problems in the Lagos House of Assembly.ā€ @femi-hakeem-gbajabiamila said he immediately defended @desmond-oluwashola-elliot, insisting he had no knowledge of his involvement. However, the situation reportedly became more serious after the DSS Director-General also contacted him, saying his own name was being linked to the crisis because of his relationship with the Surulere lawmaker. The Chief of Staff said he later called @desmond-oluwashola-elliot directly, warning him to distance himself from anything connected to the Assembly crisis if he was involved. The political tension began in January 2025 when lawmakers impeached Speaker Mudashiru Obasa while he was away in the United States, replacing him with Mojisola Meranda, the first female Speaker of the Lagos Assembly. After weeks of intense political battles, interventions and negotiations within APC circles, Obasa was eventually reinstated. Now, @femi-hakeem-gbajabiamila's revelation has opened fresh conversations about how deep the Lagos Assembly crisis truly went and the level of behind-the-scenes political pressure involved.
