Mohammed Badaru Abubakar is the current Minister of Defence and a former Governor of Jigawa State, serving from 2015 to 2023. A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he is a trained accountant and successful businessman, widely known as “Badaru Talamiz.” His tenure as governor was marked by reforms in agriculture, infrastructure, and public service delivery. He played a prominent role in national politics within the APC and was appointed Minister of Defence under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2023.
